It requires gumption to take on Kishore Kumar and Laxmikant Pyarelal and it takes considerable guts to take on a once young, sensational Rishi Kapoor. But Himesh Reshammiya has done just that, with his characteristic nonchalance.

Karz is a classic that generations of cinefans still pay obeisance to. And we have been shocked, curious and worried (strictly in that order) ever since T-series announced its mega project, Karz revisited, with Himesh assuming the role of Monty (RK), Monty's voice (KK) and Monty's musical mastermind (Laxmikant Pyarelal).

It appears our apprehensions were not unfounded. Karzzzz, the movie soundtrack, is out. And it features 19 songs! Each song is more than five minutes long and the second CD features the club and lounge versions of the Disc One tracks.

Needless to say, the mammoth 2-CD album sees Himmesh at his prolific best. He composes, sings, howls and ensures that you do not, ever, forget how Himesh Bhai attained the demi-god status in the eyes of his fans - through his nose.

How To Kill a Classic

We cannot help but compare the same to a recent 'revisitation' of another Kishore Kumar-RD Burman-Rishi classic, Bachna Ae Haseeno (Vishal-Shekhar) where the results were far more aesthetic and smacked of respect for the original. Himesh crashes his way through the arrangement, with the sensitivity of a bull in a china shop, his voice and the reproduction ruining it for us.

Back to the title track, Lut Jaaon Lut Jaaon. If you have been to the theatres recently, you would have seen the shiny red disco ball (a recurring motif in this film as it appears!) and the track playing the background. The rhythm is extremely catchy, the singing is not. But you may want to forgive Himesh here as the song does have potential, even if the alaap in between makes it sound very similar to Karunesh's Global Spirit tracks. But we will not say Himesh has 'copied' the song, he may have simply been 'inspired'.

Next comes a song Hari Om Hari Om. Himesh makes it sound more like Hurry Ooom, Hurry Ooom! The chanting is decidedly funny and you will be rolling with laughter at the seriousness with which Himesh attempts to make it sound cool.

Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are all set to bring their holy matrimony to the 70 mm screen with both of them agreeing to be a part of director Rajeev Menon’s remake of the classic film ‘Abhimaan’ which starred the erstwhile jodi of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan.

Rajeev Menon, who is famous for his flicks like Sapnay (Minsaara Kanavu) and Kandukondain Kandukondain has taken over the mantle of recreating Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s memorable tale.

According to reports, Rajeev was very keen to make the film with Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan since day one. The film that has been tentatively named Dhun, will also see the backdrop of music and both Aishwarya and Abhishek are playing singers in the film. The husband-wife duo will start shooting for Menon’s film once they are done with Mani Ratnam's Ravana, which is based on the Ramayana.

Wonder if Abhi-Ash will be able to revive the ‘Abhimaan’ magic, but with the way their past movies have bombed, here’s hoping this one will grant them some abhimaan.

Salman Khan’s family like every year shall be celebrating Maharashtra’s biggest festival, the Ganesh Festival in their home. Despite being Muslims, the Khan family is famous for celebrating all the Indian festivals displaying a true picture of National Integration.

Our source tells, “Salman Khan will be canceling all his scheduled appointments during the one and half day Ganpati celebrations that take place at his house. The Ganesh idol will be brought to Salman’s house on Wednesday morning. There will first be a Puja followed by a grand lunch at the house itself. It will be attended by a select few friends and relatives of the family. Most of the guests visiting for a darshan of the Ganesh idol will start coming in from evening. The kids of Sohail and Arbaaz love this festival a lot and Salman’s youngest sister Arpita too takes a lot of interest in doing the decorations around the Ganesh idol.”

“Amongst those scheduled to visit Salman’s house for Ganpati this year from the film industry are Mithun Chakraborty, Govinda, David Dhawan, Sajid-Wajid, Subhash Ghai and Boney Kapoor. Golmaal Returns starring Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor is set for release on Friday, October 31. The film released under the Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd banner is directed by Rohit Shetty. Musical score has been composed by Pritam Chakraborty.

The film additionally features Arshad Warsi, Amrita Arora, Tusshar Kapoor, Anjana Sukhani, Shreyas Talpade, Celina Jaitley, Mukesh Tiwari, Vrajesh Hirjee, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar and Murli Sharma.

Gopal (Ajay Devgan) stays with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor), sister Esha & a dumb brother in law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor).

Gopal for one whole night gets stuck in a yacht after he saves an attractive young woman Meera (Celina Jaitley) from few goons on his way back home from his office. Due to the circumstances they stay back on the yacht.

He arrives home the next day, and meets his very suspicious wife, Ekta, who is a hard core Saas bahu television soap viewer and suspects him of flirting with girls from his staff.

Gopal, fearing that Ekta will not believe him if he told her the truth about the filmy incident that kept him away from home the previous night, invents a story about spending the night with a fictitious friend named Anthony Gonsalves.

Ekta does not believe that he ever had a friend by that name, and decides to write to Anthony to come and visit her. Gopal then convinces one of his juniors, Laxman (Shreyas Talpade), to pretend that he is Anthony, and thus convince Ekta that he was indeed telling the truth. Laxman agrees to do so, and everything goes according to plan until the address on which Ekta had written a letter to Anthony turns out to be real.

Meanwhile Gopal finds out that a dead body was found at the same location where he saved Meera from the goons. The investigating officer Maadhav (Arshad Waarsi) who is Esha's boyfriend and does not get well along with Gopal, finds out that Gopal was missing from his home that very night and the dead was an employee from his company.

There begins Maadhav's investigation - resulting in hilarious chaos.
